What is a Venture Grant?

A Venture Grant from the United Way of Greater High Point is a small, non-recurring grant to qualified, local nonprofits. These grants are designed to meet emerging or unmet needs, and/or to support innovative solutions to local issues. They can be used for new programs, capital requests, to purchase needed equipment or supplies, and in more limited cases, for administrative expenses such as staffing so that a program can increase its sustainability with the support that paid staff can provide. Venture Grants are open to the United Way of Greater High Point’s partner and non-partner agencies.

What are the requirements to apply?
  • You must be a nonprofit organization who currently has IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status

  • The funding you are applying for must be for the direct benefit of the Greater High Point community (High Point, Archdale, Trinity, and/or Jamestown)

  • The program you are applying for must not be currently funded, directly or indirectly, by the United Way of Greater High Point’s regular allocations process

How does an organization apply?

To apply, simply complete a Venture Grant application and submit it by the deadline.Please come back early 2018 for our next Venture Grant Cycle.

What are the requirements to apply?

  • You must be a nonprofit organization who currently has IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, or a governmental organization

  • The funding you are applying for must be for the direct benefit of the Greater High Point community (High Point, Archdale, Trinity, and Jamestown)

  • The program you are applying for must not be currently funded, directly or indirectly, by the United Way of Greater High Point’s regular allocations process.  Partner Agencies may only apply for capital projects. 

  • Previously funded agencies will not be funded for the same program for more than two consecutive years. 

  • Venture Grant recipients must complete a program report due on June 2, 2017.

How does an organization apply?

An informational meeting will be held at the United Way of Greater High Point.  (Date to be determined)
