UWGHP BackPack Program Sites

The UWGHP BackPack program provides weekend meals for elementary school students in High Point, Archdale, and Trinity.

 

Through partnerships with community agencies, the United Way of Greater High Point provides nutritious, kid-friendly, pre-packaged food for 1900+ children during the school year, holidays and summer break to the following sites:​​

Families with school-aged children wishing to obtain weekend meals through the UWGHP BackPack Program may apply through your child's school or through your agency of choice (sites listed above).

Backpack Program Partners

Backpack program

If you would like to collect UWGHP BackPack Program food, items should be kid-friendly, non-perishable, and nutritious. Click here for a generic flyer with a shopping list if you'd like something to print and advertise your drive. Utilize our Amazon Wish List to send BackPack food conveniently from wherever you are - no grocery shopping!

 IMPORTANT NOTE: 
Due to guidelines connected to the coronavirus (COVID-19) to limit in-person interactions and gatherings, UWGHP is partnering with The Salvation Army of High Point as a delivery site for UWGHP BackPack food items.  This will decrease the number of staff needed to transport goods from one organization to the other. 

Backpack Program Items

Please drop off or send Amazon Wish List items directly to The Salvation Army of High Point's delivery address in c/o UWGHP: 301 West Green Drive, High Point, NC  27262

The following are examples of needed items:

  • Individual cereal boxes

  • Toaster pastries

  • Cereal Bars

  • Shelf-stable milk

  • 100% Juice Boxes 

  • Pop-top meats

  • Ramen noodles or microwave pasta

  • 8oz bottled water or juice pouches

  • Cups of fruit, fruit snacks, crackers, etc.

  • $5 feeds 1 BackPack student for 1 weekend

  • $185 feeds 1 BackPack student each weekend for an entire school year

  • $4,925 feeds all 1,900 BackPack students for 1 weekend

  • $182,225 feeds all 1,900 BackPack students each weekend for an entire school year

  • $9,500 feeds all 1,900 BackPack students for 1 weekend during the summer

  • ​$95,000 feeds all 1,900 BackPack students for 10 weeks during the summer

  • Through our school and non-school sites, we serve students attending all of the Title I elementary schools in the Greater High Point area
