United Way of Greater High Point, Inc. develops community resources and partnerships that support a broad array of critical health and human service needs in our community. Resources are focused on community impact programs that promote and improve education, financial stability, and health in Greater High Point.
United Way of Greater High Point began nearly 100 years ago as the "Community Chest". Eighty people attended one of the early meetings where Mr. R.T. Amos was elected the first President of the Board of Directors, and the five original partner agencies were the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, the YMCA, the YWCA, and the Boy Scouts. These agencies and 22 others are still supported by United Way of Greater High Point today.
Today, the United Way of Greater High Point continues to improve existing partnerships and forge new ones to address unmet needs facing the community. Hundreds of volunteers help us raise and allocate the funding that supports them. Our community has stepped up year after year to raise more dollars than ever before. Because of their unceasing generosity, UWGHP is making a measurable difference in the lives of our neighbors.
United Way of Greater High Point is an advocate for positive change, and we hope everyone will join us in creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive community including High Point,
Archdale, Jamestown, and Trinity.
United Way of Greater High Point believes that equity, inclusion, and diversity should be at the forefront of our work to ensure that every individual has what they need to thrive, be healthy, well-educated, and financially stable. We recognize disparities exist in our community and the voices of all citizens are not always heard. We are committed to dismantling structural racism and other forms of injustice that divides communities.
United Way of Greater High Point believes that every person is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect this includes equal treatment and access to justice. Our mission is to fight for the education, health, and financial stability of every person in every community.
United Way of Greater High Point is committed
to providing support to our community and partners regardless of race, religion, gender, nationality, language differences, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, socioeconomic status, or physical, mental, and developmental abilities.
United Way of Greater High Point is working diligently to bring an equity lens to our programming, community investments and overall decision-making approach. We understand the path to equity is continuous and requires an inclusive approach that engages our partners, supporters, community members, and donors. We are committed to evaluating our progress and assessing where gaps may exist, including our commitment to a diverse board and staff and making the needed changes.
At United Way of Greater High Point, we accept difference, we encourage it, we celebrate it, we support it, and we acknowledge it for the benefit of our community. We are better together. Live United. United Way United Way of Greater High Point
