ABOUT US

Mission Statement:
United Way of Greater High Point brings together people, resources and funding to build strong and vibrant communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
United Way of Greater High Point began nearly 100 years ago as the "Community Chest". Eighty people attended one of the early meetings where Mr. R.T. Amos was elected the first President of the Board of Directors, and the five original partner agencies were the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, the YMCA, the YWCA, and the Boy Scouts. These agencies and 22 others are still supported by United Way of Greater High Point today.
Our mission is to develop resources and partnerships that make a measurable difference in people’s lives.
Today, United Way of Greater High Point continues to improve existing partnerships and forge new ones to address unmet needs facing the community. Hundreds of volunteers help us raise and allocate the funding that supports them. Our community has stepped up year after year to raise more dollars than ever before. Because of their unceasing generosity, UWGHP is making a measurable difference in the lives of our neighbors.

United Way of Greater High Point funds 59 programs within our 2 local partner agencies supporting the communities of High Point, Archdale, Trinity and Jamestown.
Equity Statement ...
United Way of Greater High Point believes that equity, inclusion, and diversity should be at the forefront of our work to ensure that every individual has what they need to thrive, be healthy, well-educated, and financially stable. We are committed to dismantling structural racism and other forms of injustice that divides communities.
United Way of Greater High Point believes that every person is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect this includes equal treatment and access to justice. Our mission is to fight for the education, health, and financial stability of every person in every community.

We understand the path to equity is continuous and requires an inclusive approach that engages our partners, supporters, community members, and donors.
