Katie & Angel

Katie was looking for a volunteer opportunity where she could make a positive difference in a child's life. Angel was simply looking for a friend.

Thanks to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Piedmont, and your support of the United Way of Greater High Point, Katie and Angel have found each other - and they are having the time of their lives!

The Brewer Family

When Jim Brewer's wife Shirley faced her final illness, she and her family needed help and support. Thanks to the United Way of Greater High Point and Hospice of the Piedmont, that help and support was available through the loving hands of Hospice staff, who cared for Mrs. Brewer and assisted the family during that difficult time.

Sarah

When Sarah was approved to receive her Habitat home, she was also required to take a class in consumer credit counseling through Family Service of the Piedmont, a United Way partner agency. Sarah learned so many things about budgeting and having money that she never knew, and it has enabled her to become more self-sufficient than she ever dreamed. She now has a good job, a home of her own, and financial stability --- thanks to
Family Service of the Piedmont, and your support of the United Way of Greater High Point. That's what matters.

John

In his later years, John lost his wife, became depressed, struggled with many serious health issues, and ultimately, lost his home. He was referred to Senior Resources of Guilford, where he found an array of services that have helped get his life back on track. Today John lives in his own apartment at Elm Towers, and he has lunch every day at the community nutrition site provided there by Senior Resources. The staff tells us that John makes a special effort every day to say "thank you" to them for his lunch. Thanks to your support of Senior Resources and United Way, John found what he needed: housing, health, and hope.
